Volunteer Idea:
If you like to bake or if you are looking for an activity to do together with your children, why not bake cookies, banana bread, muffins, cupcakes, whatever your hearts desire?! Once you have baked a dozen or more, if you were so called to do, you can do a number of things to let someone know you were thinking of them:
- Go to your local fire station and thank your neighborhood firefighters for all that they do.
- Bring your basket of goodies to a nearby neighbor is maybe elderly or ill.
- Go visit a nursing home or center for independent living and spend some time listening to their stories.
- Make a couple of dozen baked goodies and bring it to a Ronald McDonald House.
- A Homeless Shelter would always appreciate dozens of tasty treats.
Doing this maybe once a month or even once every three months is a nice tradition. This teaches the children about others in their community.
There are a great number of volunteer opportunities for us as individuals and for us as families to volunteer.
My favorite place to discover where our family can volunteer is called The Volunteer Family, founded by a wonderful and dynamic mother, Heather Jack. In our opinion, it is one of the most comprehensive family volunteer resources that we have available today. Please go and check them out!
